An unusual birthday celebration

Today was my dad's 70th birthday, and due to CV-19 we aren't able to celebrate with him. So we made a couple signs and went downtown and wished him a happy birthday. We talked for a few minutes outside his apartment, it is just so unreal this is the best we can do to see family right now. Hopefully we get through this fairly quickly and can start our return 'normal' life. Anyway, happy birthday Pops.

Simplicity racing

Finding things to do during our CV-19 house arrest is not easy. So I got all the tractors out and we had a race around a small course I set up. All tractors fired up, all of them except Emma's for the first time in 2020 and put on a great show. The results are below:
Mandy - 2:03.7
Olivia - 2:14.4
Alex - 2:19.2
Emma - 2:20.5
Izzy - 2:20.8
Abby - 2:26.6

A late snowfall

Well, we woke up this morning to some snow! The girls went out to play in it for a little while as it will most likely be gone by tomorrow! But they also got Roxy out and let her burn off some energy.

Virtual Nascar

Today was the first virtual Nascar race. It was extremely weird! All the drivers were in their home with racing setups and were racing each other. Very odd!

Still need ice cream!

We went and visited our friends ice cream shop today, they haven't shut them down yet!

A visit with Grammee

Went and visited my mom today, the kids made her a sign. This is very hard on everyone being shut in and trying to quarantine to keep healthy. It is very lonely!

Church in the time of Covid-19

This morning we had our first virtual church service. Kind of weird, but this is our current reality for now!

Almost through week 1!

We have almost made it through week 1 of our Caronavirus quarantine. Kids are doing ok, even though they are getting a little antsy to go do something. Hopefully it warms up a bit so we can at least get outside. Kids have been doing schoolwork and playing very well, still a long way to go!

An RC/10 is back

A couple years ago my brother bought me this RC/10 remote controlled car for Christmas. We had a couple of these as kids. Well, since the kids are going to be stuck at home for the next few weeks I thought I would finally go get the radio, battery and charger it needed and it is running good!

Olivia bowls in City Tournament

This morning Olivia bowled in a tournament for our area. They split up the bowlers so they could fit in under the State mandated limit, and pretty much only parents were in attendance. As you can see from the photo below of the lanes it looked empty! They spaced the kids out so there were 4 lanes between them and they did not change lanes like normal. It was nice to see the kids bowling with everything else going on, but it was apparent this was different. Olivia did pretty good, bowing 803 over 6 games for a 133 average. She was going to bowl with her friend/teammate Kyra, but she was not feeling well so another friend/teammate Loreli filled in and they had a great time!

The TBird lives!

Today Garrett and I finished the TBird. It took a little persuading to get it fired but once going it was purring. It got the Ford Performance Intake, new injectors, new wires, new plugs, new fuel filter, new water pump and a computer chip under the hood. We also installed the new aluminum driveshaft and new rear end with 3.73 gears and a limited slip differential. The exhaust is on the way and I can't wait to get that installed and start playing with the car. A very short test run was fun and way too short!

Alex kicks off the Corona-Break with a bang

Alex to a spill at school yesterday and won himself a trip to urgent care. His knee was really swelled up. Not sure what he did yet, his kneecap is in the right place, but it might have been moved when he fell. So with all the swelling the x-ray wasn't a huge help, may have to go back in later next week after the swelling hopefully goes down.

Uncharted Territory

Well, 2020 will be know as the year of Coronavirus. I have never seen anything like this! Everything is being cancelled, from school(for at least a month), all sports, professional sports and the NCAA mens basketball tournament. The kids went to school today but will not return until after spring break April 13th. Stay tuned!

A little disappointed

After driving my Buick to Chicago yesterday, today I went to start it up and it had a problem. Come to find out it is another design flaw by GM(another one was taken care of last summer) and I am about done with American cars! The whole PCV system was designed poorly causing pressure to build up in the engine and if you leave it unchecked, could blow out gaskets in the motor. Hopefully they will cover the fix, I will find out tomorrow!

Chicago CE2E comic con

Saturday I took Emma and her friend Isabelle to Chicago to attend a comic-con at McCormick Place. This was a world I had hear about but never expected to experience. Wow. 70,000 people dressed up and hanging out. It was crazy. But Emma got her photo with Stephen Amell, I took her to Millers Pub and we had to pay a visit to the Bean. A very fun day!
