Polar Vortex

It looks like we hit a low of -15 due to the Polar Vortex.  Wind chills in the mid -30's.  The kids were off school 4 days!  Monday and Tuesday more for the snow we got, and then Wednesday and Thursday for the temps. So we went bowling today at least to get the kids out of the house.

Alex attends MSU soccer clinic

Alex attended the first session of an MSU soccer clinic today.  He did this last year and enjoyed it, so we signed him up again. He did really good. He was the only person to score in a scrimmage they played, and the MSU mens soccer coach complimented him several times on his play. Always fun watching him have fun.

Bulldogs avenge Grand Ledge!

The Bulldogs lost to Grand Ledge a few weeks ago, their only loss so far, and today gave it back to them, making their first loss of the season!  We won 4-3 in a very tight, hard fought game. Fun to watch.  We are now tied at the top of the standings!

Olivia bowls her first 200 game!

This morning Olivia absolutely killed at the bowling alley!  She bowled her first 200 game(203), and had 4 strikes in a row for the first time!  Also, she had a career high series of 486!

2019 NAIAS

Alex and I took our annual trip to the auto show in Detroit today.  I guess it will be the last one in January, they will be moving it to the summer for 2020. It was a kind of a let down this year, it seemed like there wasn't much there on display. We still had fun, with some cool activities. Alex got to drive a Dodge Challenger simulator that was very cool. Still a fun day with lots of sweet rides to look at.

Some more clearing, Alex's turn

Since the snow hasn't stopped, Alex got to go out and take a turn with my tractor and the plow.

Izzy, Abby & Roxy enjoy the snow

Roxy absolutely loves the snow. She was shivering but did not want to come back in. Would run, jump, bury her head, then run and jump again! It was really fun watching her just play around in it. The girls tried sledding and snowboarding down a little hill we have, but the snow isn't really good for that yet. They had fun though.

First snow of 2019

Abby helped me clear the driveway this morning with her Simplicity. I think I will have to go out and do another clearing, the snow is still coming down...

The boys get a win against Portland

Alex had a game at 8:40(!) this morning and they beat Portland 6-1. Next week they get to try and avenge their only defeat this year!

Bulldogs get handed their first loss

The boys got their first loss of the indoor season against Grand Ledge, losing 3-4 today.  They played very well and it was a close game the whole time. Fun game to watch! I sometimes forget Alex is playing against boys as much as two years older than him but the bottom photo reminds me!

Alex on Breslin Bigscreen

Alex and Mandy got to go to the women's Spartans game last night and Alex got on the big screen. His normal casual self!  The women beat down Minnesota, too.

2 indoor soccer games, 2 wins!

Alex played 2 games this weekend and the boys beat Owosso 3-2 in an extremely tight match and then beat Laingsburg 12-2 today. Alex had a goal in each game and several assists today. They have been playing very well, it looks like this upcoming weekend will be a good game against undefeated Grand Ledge.

My yard is back!!

Today I finally cleared all the timber from the front lawn. There is still lots to split up, chip up and move but the front yard is clear!!  Now, on to repairing the holes and crushed areas from where the trees came down, but that will wait until spring, I think.  I have been blessed with weather allowing me to get this far, I should probably call it good!

Proud bowling dad!

I haven't posted about Olivia bowling in a while since I can't really take photos, but she is doing awesome.  Her season average is up to 124 and today she bowled a 132, 135 and 139! I actually took one video today and it turned out to be a strike!

Roxy enjoys the spring weather!

Since it is in the mid 40's outside the kids took Roxy out and ran her around for a while!  The sunshine feels so good!
