Emma's First Soccer Game

Well, I have a daughter in sports. And she is wearing number 17, which is awesome because her middle name is Grace, for my favorite Chicago Cubs player, first baseman Mark Grace, who was number 17. Anyway, she was a little skiddish at first but soon got right in there and was good at stopping the opposing team and clearing it out. She just loves to kick it hard. We are going to work on her dribbling and being more comfortable with the ball. She was actually good at passing. She got an assist, and they won 5-0. Go Mason! Fun to see her out there, too bad I know nothing about soccer!

September So Far

Here are some photos from the month so far. We went to my brother and sister-in-laws in St Claire Shores for Labor Day and had a nice day out even though it was pretty cool and windy. We had a campfire with Mandy's parents, Julie & Joe one evening when it was beautiful out.

Back to School

Well, it is Livy's first day of school, and Emma in 2nd grade. Yikes, now we have two in school! I'm so not ready for this.....

The Windstar drives at MIS

For a donation to the Red Cross though the Speedway we got to drive 10 laps at Michigan International Speedway. I took the kids and my brother and we got the van up to 90mph on the high bank 2 mile oval. We were the only minivan there, but we had a blast. Very fun and the kids loved it.

Fun with the Crone's

We got to host some of our friends for an evening while they visited from Cleveland. We had pizza, nerf gun fights, and a camp fire. It was fun seeing our kids and theirs getting to play with each other again. Had a very fun evening.

Mason Steam Show

Well, this year along with my dad and brothers steam tractors being in the show I brough along my 4 vintage 1960's Simplicity tractors. And yes, I made the matching shirts for the older kids! Izzy had to settle for a pink tractor shirt. We had lots of fun, got a little dirty, and plenty tired. But the weather cooperated beautifully, the show had record numbers, and we had fun.

Emma's Field Day

Mandy organized a multi-activity field day for Emma's classmates and friends. With help from some of the parents we had a water balloon popping contest, eating donuts on a rope, volleyball, and other contests. However, since it was 95 degrees and muggy, by far the most used activity was the home made slip and slide. Get a couple tarps, water, and baby shampoo and you would be amazed how fast kids can slide. Plus, they were actually clean afterwards!
