Bulldogs tie against Haslett

 Tonight the boys played good and tied Haslett 1-1. They were in it the whole time and played against some good senior and juniors. Very fun game to watch.

Manual trans for the Bird!

 Last night Garrett found this manual transmission for the Thunderbird for very cheap and in the Jackson area. Both he and I have been looking for a while and they always sell very quickly, or are expensive or far away. So we jumped on this one and went down to grab it and even got another motor! Hopefully next winter we can get to making the 5-speed swap.

2 extremely hot soccer games!

 With all the weather-shortened games this week we actually got TWO games in today! However, the weather tried to do us in, as the on-field heat index during our 10:00am game was 104, the limit to play. So we were toeing the line the entire day to get the games in. The boys lost game 1 and tied game 2. They are getting better but still going up against almost fully stocked senior varsity teams. Proud of how they played, and Alex did awesome. Tried to make a filmstrip at the bottom of a sequence where he went under one defender, and around another to get up the sideline. Even the other teams coach was cheering him on with his effort! 

Another weather shortened soccer game

 Tonight Mason took on Forest Hills Central HS in Grand Rapids. The game started late due to thunder in the area but finally got started. They got down 2 goals early and played pretty even after that. But they just couldn't catch back up. We got about 5 minutes into the second half when some lightning in the vicinity ended it. No weather delay since we had already started late. Alex played extremely hard making several nice passes that just couldn't be converted to a goal. 

21!

 A day late posting but Mandy and I celebrated our 21st anniversary yesterday b going out to dinner at the Lansing Brewing Co. Food was good, and it was a nice break for her and I to just enjoy spending some time together!

Abby's last 'first day' at Steele

 Here is Abby on her first day at kindergarten and then this morning, her first day of 5th grade. Unreal how fast this is going. 

Back to school!

 The kids are going back to their school buildings for the first time in over a year. Oliva starting 11th, Alex 9th, Izzy 7th and Abby her last year in elementary school in 5th grade. Olivia drove the older kids to school and I took Abby. They only have a half day, which is good considering it is going to be in the 90's!

A very short game!

 Tonight was a long evening for a short game. We got to Grand Ledge around 6:30 for the 7:00 game and the skies opened up. They ended up calling the JV game so we waited out the rain and hail in the car. They tried to start the game at 8:25 but due to lightning they called it after only 18 minutes of play. Not sure how this will be scored, I assume we will reschedule and finish the game, hopefully.

Emma starts her college career

 Well, today was the day we moved Emma to Grand Valley. We met her suitemates and they seem nice, plus she knows one from Mason so at least she knows someone. Sad she has moved out but excited for her and this next chapter of her life!
